Mark Welsh died on September 22, 1983. He had graduated from Robert Morris University with an accounting degree and was in the process of acquiring a professional accounting position in a company downtown. To make financial ends meet, he was finishing up a construction project with his dads company out in Finleyville. He was going to let me know when he would get off work so we could link up to watch a favorite band of his, Double Edge, playing in a pub out on Rt. 19. When I heard the phone, I figured it was Mark. To my surprise, it was Marks brother. He could hardly speak through tears and sadness. He told me that Mark was walking the rooftop of a 2-floor building inspecting new gutters. He must have lost his balance and fell head first into the concrete below. He died instantly with his dad only a short distance away. He is buried next to his mom, Maureen Welch, in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.
